Anthem Plot
Anthem is a book written by Ayn Rand in 1937. It is a book about a man named Equality 7-2521 who lives in a very different society than we do today. The society is anti-utopian which means it is the opposite from an ideal society. The main character, Equality 7-2521, is different from the rest of the men in the society: he is taller and smarter. Equality discovers an underground tunnel from the Unmentionable Times and he rediscovers electricity. He presents this discovery to the World Council of Scholars. The council of scholars rejects his discovery, which causes Equality to run away to the Uncharted Forest, where he meets up with a girl that he met earlier in his life, named Liberty. The two of them discover a house that was left from the "Unmentionable Times." While living in the house, Equality begins to use the word "I", a word that could not be used before. The two of them, Equality and Liberty, live in the house together, and eventually have a baby.
